The Mississippi Valley Historical Review (December, 1962),
contains an article entitled "A Safety Valve Thesis and Texan
Annexation," by Frederick Merk.
The Chronicles of Oklahoma (Autumn, 1962), continues the
article "From the Brazos to the North Fork: the Autobiography
of Otto Koeltzow," edited by A. M. Gibson, which was begun in
the Spring, 1962, issue. The Autumn issue also includes "Letters
of General McCulloch and Chief Ross in 1861," edited by Harry
J. Lemley.
The Library Journal (December 1, 1962), contains an article
on the "Texas State Library," by Dorman H. Winfrey.
The New Mexico Historical Review (October, 1962), con-
tains an article by Charles L. Kenner, "The Great New Mexico
Cattle Raid-1872," which concerns the activities in New Mexico
of Texas cattleman John Hittson.
An article on "Cotton Manufacturing in Texas Since 1933,"
by Wilmon H. Droze, appeared in the Textile History Review
of April, 1962. *
The Historian of the University of Texas, a new publication
of Beta Alpha Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta national history hon-
orary, contains in Volume I (September, 1962) articles on "The
Ku Klux Klan in Texas, 1920-1930," by Charles C. Alexander,
and "The Congressional Career of Jeff: McLemore as Seen in
His Letters," by Robert L. Wagner.
Password (Fall, 1962), the quarterly journal of the E1l Paso
Historical Society, contains articles on "Background of a Bull-
fighter," by Marshall Hail; "The Cloudcroft Baby Sanatorium,"
by Estelle Goodman Levy; and "Trans-Pecos Landscapes," by
George Clurg.
