professor of history at Texas Western College, is presently at work
on a book about the stage coach era in El Paso history, 1848-1881.
The American Association for State and Local History, 151
East Gorham Street, Madison 3, Wisconsin, has initiated a new
publication which should be of tremendous interest and real
functional value to multiplied thousands of the American people.
The overall publication is to have the general title of Technical
Leaflet. The first undertaking consists of four printings entitled
"Caring For Your Collections: Metals and Leather." The poten-
tial of such an enterprise is almost without end. The publication
will, in its very nature, be of interest and service both to museum
enterprises and to the field of history. Every Texas library (wheth-
er public, educational or private) will profit immeasurably
through having complete files of this newly launched publication.
All members of the Association are encouraged to write di-
rectly to the American Association at the above address and to
make subscription and publication arrangements. Apparently sin-
gle copies may be purchased for no greater sum than ten cents.
As many as fifty copies may be purchased for $3.00. This is ob-
viously a step in the right direction and in the very nature of
things. The enterprise must eventually cover America, which will
mean that Texana items will certainly be coming along from time
to time.

History. Before he died in 1932, Fudge wrote his reminiscences

summers of 1881 through 1884 and a drive up the trail with a
herd of horses in 1885. Fudge's life story ran serially in the
Powder River Examiner (Broadus, Montana), in 1953. The
manuscript from which the newspaper account was taken and
from which the chapter printed in Montana was taken is depos-
ited in the archives of the Historical Society of Montana.
The December, 1961, Books and Things of Alliance College,
Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, is devoted entirely to an ac-309
