In an attempt to produce this document the Bexar Archives were
searched in vain; the records of Mexico City and the Spanish
archives were appealed to without results; and the courts finally
ruled that the document was hopelessly lost. In its place the
memories of the oldest settlers were relied on to establish the
boundary lines of the city as founded in 1731.
