H. BAILEY CARROLL, "Steward A. Miller and the Snively Expe-
dition of i843," is the director of the Texas State Historical
Association.
PAUL H. WALTERS, "Secularization of the La Bahia Missions,"
is working on his dissertation for a Ph.D. in history at the Uni-
versity of Texas, where he was formerly a teaching fellow. At
present Walters is employed by the Lower Colorado River
Authority.
CARL C. WRIGHT, "Reading Interests in Texas from the 183o's
to the Civil War," has contributed articles and poetry to Hol-
land's, Progressive Farmer, The Cattlemen, and American Forests.
Since 1946 he has been an instructor in English at the University
of Texas.
ANDREW FOREST MUIR, "Augustus M. Tomkins, Frontier Prose-
cutor," has taught history at St. Luke's School in Austin, at Iolani
School in Honolulu, and at Schofield Junior College, Schofield
Barracks, Hawaii. A graduate of Rice Institute, Muir received
his Ph. D. degree from the University of Texas, where he was a
tutor in English. He has had historical articles published in the
Journal of Negro History, the Journal of Southern History, and
publications of the Texas Folklore Society.
JOE B. FRANTZ, "Moses Lapham: His Life and Some Selected
Correspondence," is an assistant professor of history at the Uni-
versity of Texas. Having graduated with a B.J. and an M.A. in
history, Frantz returned to the University of Texas after World
War II to finish his study of the life of Gail Borden and to receive
a Ph.D. in history.
HELEN M. HUNNICUTT, "Election of Alcaldes in San Fernando,
1750," is a translator in the Archives Collection in the University
of Texas Library. Miss Hunnicutt took her B.A. and M.A. degrees
at the University of Texas and is a former member of the faculty
of the Texas College of Arts and Industries at Kingsville.
