Thursday the 12th left home to John Norriss on attoyac, got
him to accompany me. left his House at 2 P. M. and went to
the widow Parmer's in Shelby county, had a wretched Lodging,
and worse fare, paid one dollar Silver in the morning-
Pryday 1th- fine weather crossed the Sabine at Logans's
Ferry, went to Aaron Furgusson, fared midling well for $3.00
Saturday the 14th left Fergusson's to Jose de los Santos's 5
miles. found him ready to leave for Natchitochez, got my Bill
of Sale for a half League of Land, agreably to a Contract made
with him on the 3d of February last, went to a Mr Nicholsons'
on the Shreeveport Road, got Exelent fare & good Lodging for
$2.50, the country we travelled trough to day is very poor-
Sunday the 15th November fine weather to day- left Nich-
olsons to a beutifull little Town called Summergrove 10 miles
South of Shreveport at this place, we met with a Son of Saml.
Norriss, who guided us trough, swamp morass, and water, to Nat.
Norriss, was received in a friendly manner by him, nothing how-
ever was said about the late Rebellion in which he took such an
active part 23 the goods which Mr Ogilvy send up to Sam Norriss
are in Nat Norriss Posession he N. Norriss, told me he had
made an arrangement with Mr Louis Rueg to pay me for them,
had no monay to give me, the arrangement is to be made trough
Mr John Durst, who is to pay $200. which amount N. Norriss
says he loaned Durst previous to the Rebellion, as I have not
seen Mr Durst nor Mr Rueg, I know not how the matter stands,
but if the Estate gets any thing I shall consider it as that much
found- crossed in a flat boat one of the Forks of Red River,
to Mx Samuel Norriss, who lives on the Bank of the Main Red
River, was well received by Mr Norriss and his amiable Familie
Monday the 16th remained all day at Mr Norriss's the Steam
Boat Washington passed up, John Norriss had never seen one be-
fore-
Tuesday the 17th November left, recrossed the River, swamps,
eta passed by Summergrove to Thomas Norriss's, fared well at
his House
Wednesday the 18th passed trough Greenwood a beutifull vil-
lage with a fine Acadamy build partly by the State of Louisiana
